History Project

Prompted by the thought that the pace of change in the village seemed to be accelerating, and that so much information and so many memories were in danger of being lost,  a group has been working to assemble an archive of our village history.

Intermittent meetings are held where we share and discuss newly found photographs, documents and other information. We have produced three calendars and assembled 8 displays for the annual Fetes and other occasions-

The Village during the Twentieth Century

Gifts to the Church over the centuries

The Pub, and the old Forge

Worldham Hill, the old School and old Chapel,

            Binswood

            Hops and Farming

            Old House Farm

King Johns Hill, Hill Fort, Hunting Lodge, and the Deer Park

All of these can be seen or used on request.

Anyone interested in the history of the village is very welcome at meetings and we will be delighted to hear from anyone at any time who may have photos, old material, personal memories or any other knowledge of East Worldham over the years.

2010 calendar will be available from the 1st November, price £4. Proceeds to the Church Fabric Fund.
